After careful consideration, the BLEND Awards committee has come to the (bittersweet) conclusion that we collectively have fulfilled the better part of our original vision to encourage and reward builders, architects, and homeowners to blend newly remodeled or constructed homes and businesses into the fabric of Minneapolis and St. Paul neighborhoods.
It has been our honor to recognize many remarkable projects BLEND and EcoBLEND Award recipients since our founding in 2007. It’s a legacy of design and building that we are proud of, and we again congratulate and thank all past BLEND Award winners for your positive contributions to our community.
We are genuinely grateful to be surrounded by a community of caring design professionals, builders and homeowners who have understood that great design moves beyond an individual aesthetic to thoughtfully include the larger community we live in. It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to formally recognize and celebrate your work and we have every confidence that it is a legacy that will continue.
It is our intention to maintain the BLEND website for an additional two years for archiving purposes, after which time we will sunset the website. Any remaining operational funds will be donated to the following organizations to support their mission in our neighborhoods:
• Simpson Housing •
• Jeremiah Program •
• Rethos •
• Aeon •
• Fulton Neighborhood Association •
Finally, a special thanks to past sponsors, including Pella Windows, Southview Design, Varsity Painters, and Natural Built Home, as well as program partners Minneapolis Climate Action (formerly Linden Hills Power and Light), Fulton Neighborhood Association, and Minneapolis St Paul Home Tour who came alongside us in this great adventure. A huge thanks to past BLEND Awards committee members, including Phil Rader, Ellen Berner, Chris Strom, Felicity Britton, Jane Kohnen, Dan Murphy, and Holly Nolan.
